Perhaps its not picked up because its tagged as a railway=rail i.e. not as a subway or light rail.

Thanks for creating this. I've changed the railway lines to railway=subway.

Is it really a subway though? From what I can find about it the line looks more like regional rail. If we were to add it as subway and someone decides to retag it as regional rail this would make it dissapear again. The other option would be to add it as a train line, but this requires the route relations to be tagged as train lines. (The rails it runs on do not matter for the validator, only the route type and the station types)

If the line really is a subway, we could merge the Delhi and Meerut metro cities and remove all networks in the csv to pick up the line. (Tested, only issue was two or three stations that are still tagged as train stations (and not subway) causing the network to fail). I just think we only should do this if the line is unlikely to get retagged as regional rail, as this could impact the validation of the whole Delhi 'city'.

Alternatively we could add the RRTS as a seperate 'city', so that if it fails (due to retagging or expansion, as the whole RapidX network is still under construction), it only impacts itself.

Sorry for the messy message. 😅 I'm just trying write my thoughts out. I'm not sure what the best approach would be.

If it's rapid transit (not commuter rail with a few times a day schedules, but faster than hourly service) then other surface-running rapid railway tags can be used to get it into CoMaps. We just have no ability to route based on schedules at the moment.

@Bovi887 The RRTS runs on dedicated elevated tracks, which are separate from the rest of the railway network. Per my understanding, that makes it a subway/Metro line.

Your second suggestion sounds better.

On a related note (and this probably belongs to another issue), the RRTS (both the operational Delhi-Meerut line and the other proposed lines) is meant to improve connectivity in the National Capital Region, and I've often wished that CoMaps would offer NCR as a separate map download. Currently, users in Delhi have to download not only Delhi (23M) but also the entirety of Uttar Pradesh (189M) and Haryana (54M). A dedicated NCR region would improve user convenience, reduce storage needed for users, and also reduce download sizes 🙂

By default our Subway validator will parse subway and light_rail types from OSM, but if you look at the subways CSV for Moscow you can see we can actually override most any other type and pretend like it's a subway internally. So tag it in the best way possible according to the OSM wiki, and we can handle the rest. (We don't currently parse the Commuter or Overground files)

The main types are:
rail, light_rail, subway, narrow_gauge, funicular, monorail, tram.
