Logo Voting is Now Open!

Shape the face of CoMaps! People in the community have added their designs, collaborated and iterated, and now it's up to you to decide which one will represent us best.

– Check Out the Designs: Take a look at the different logo options and see which one resonates with you the most
– Vote: Add 👍 reaction to your favorite designs.

Criteria
· Simple: easy to draw from memory
· Unique
· Subtly reflects idea of travel, maps, community, or outdoors

Deadline
9 June: Voting closes Monday. Make your voice heard!

Which logo do you like best?

After voting completes, authors of the top voted logos will have time to iterate and fine-tune based on community's feedback. Then there will be a second round of voting in a separate issue.

P.S. please keep this issue for voting only, feel free to discuss the logos and the process in #23

Location
After reading last week’s discussion, I took the idea of the "pin" and turned it into a geographic gesture. A marker not floating in space, but anchored in a suggestion of terrain. It hints at a purpose: context-aware, outdoors-oriented, rooted.
Not because the community leans pinward, but because design thrives on constraint. And this interpretation offers something distinct within that shared direction.

I would like to propose a variation where the shape of the "M" continues as if it were a portion of the path displayed on a map

This your Map-Compagnion - he'll help you discover the maps he has - and since he has a compass he can also help you navigate through them

Direction
A familiar symbol — the navigation arrow — executed with attention to form, balance and visual hierarchy. It’s not trying to shout louder, just be better. Instead of novelty, I focused on craft: visual weight, shape language, clarity at small sizes. The kind of detail that often gets overlooked but makes all the difference.

Frog-Compagnion - he has no maps - but thats no problem, since he knows every corner and a compass is all he needs to navigate.

"Maps-Arrow" - A cool design-idea from @0235 that involves a traditional "paper map" and still looks very clean
Here I personally also slightly prefer the version with two colors

"Community-Pin-Paths" - Community on a Map - a bit more, but still "simple enough"
Here I personally prefer the colored versions over the monochrome one :)

"Maps-Compass" - Also based on the design-idea from @0235 that involves a traditional "paper map" but now with a compass needle - completely analog I guess :)

"CM-Compass-Split" - The Comaps-Initials combined with a "compass" which uses all the same letters as "CoMaps" - but with a "split"

Here's a 1-color and full color with even more minimalized clouds/continents. The 1-color wouldn't be the primary logo, it just needs to be recognizable i.e. if it was embroidered on a hat or released as a vinyl sticker for a laptop/phone, I'm sure the full color would be used most often.

White version

Update by @pastk: I've added it as a variation to the original post, thanks!

Im actually shocked - the day before a lot of Logos including my own were not ranking that bad - they were actually quite high.
Most of them scored pretty fine a day ago, but now they completely plummeted. (especially: "17 CoMaps-logo-candidate-wandering-road-1.png", " 8 comaps-icon-map-compass-ev1.svg").

Also why is no Logo of this post: issuecomment-4972932 in here? They were great!

From @nclm
(Addressing @Kaiserschmarren 's comment -- nclm said he was happy to have it voted on but wasn't following along with voting processes so it wasn't included at first. Also remember 👍 in the brainstorming thread can just be encouragement, whereas here it means "I want this to be the final logo")

"Windy-Road-Pin" - A little different, but still clean and recognizable, while communicating what CoMaps is

I like this one : a single path to community, a community that maps together. I don't know if I'd keep this green colour, I think it lacks dynamism but I can't think of anything to replace it with, something brighter...
