Show what Gitea version it is utilizing #228

I would like to know if there is a way to verify what Gitea version Codeberg is based on. If it is unviewable, can you enable it?

at the moment: 1.12.3+9-g8d302546b witch means it's based on 1.12.3 with 9 codeberg patches

Good idea! It can be added to Codeberg's documentation.

I don't understand why this is so important.
Having that in the footer always is useless information most of the time, most of the people.

It is safe to assume that codeberg runs at lease the latest stable gitea release. If you want to check the API is available.

I also would not mind displaying that on an about page somewhere.

yes, the UI should be clean and simple. For those more involved, a simple CURL request is probably not too much to be asked for ;)
