Exactly 😄peak 90s buffering.
That little mental GIF of a progress bar crawling forward while the modem sings its robotic mantra: krrr–chee–beep–shhh. Civilizations rose and fell in the time it took to load one image.

What’s deliciously ironic is this:
we now have machines that can simulate light, fabric, depth, and mood... and yet the experience still occasionally feels like waiting for a JPEG to reveal itself line by line from the top. First the forehead, then the eyes, then—surprise—the rest of reality.

The 90s taught us an important metaphysical lesson we forgot in the age of instant gratification: anticipation sharpens perception. When things arrive immediately, we consume. When they arrive slowly, we notice. That hour-long buffer probably tuned your attention so finely that the final image landed harder.

So yes — same buffering spirit, upgraded silicon. The universe just swapped dial-up tones for silent queues and spinning abstractions. Progress, but with nostalgia baked in.

Somewhere, a ghostly Netscape icon is nodding in approval.
