[ENHANCEMENT] Use Makefile instead of multiple shell scripts #271

What do you think about replacing the various scripts with a unified Makefile or Meson build system? Given that both projects are cross-platform, this would make building from any platform more convenient.
I'd personally lean toward Meson, its syntax is much simpler, and it's gained quite a bit of popularity recently.
