What happened

Selecting previously unselected package inky-cap.
(Reading database ... 750979 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack .../InkyCap_26.7.2_amd64.deb ...
Unpacking inky-cap (26.7.2) ...
dpkg: error processing archive /home/johnb/Downloads/InkyCap_26.7.2_amd64.deb (--install):
trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/tinymist', which is also in package typos (0.2.5)
dpkg-deb: error: paste subprocess was killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Processing triggers for hicolor-icon-theme (0.18-2) ...
Processing triggers for mailcap (3.74ubuntu1) ...
Processing triggers for gnome-menus (3.36.0-3ubuntu2) ...
Processing triggers for desktop-file-utils (0.28-1) ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
/home/johnb/Downloads/InkyCap_26.7.2_amd64.deb

Steps to reproduce

  1. sudo gdebi InkyCap_26.7.2_amd64.deb
  2. Observe the error message cited above
  3. The InkyCap_26.7.2 edition is not installed.

Expected behaviour

Given we have already have '/usr/bin/tinymist' installed (which is also in package typos (0.2.5), perhaps InkyCap should not attempt to install it and move on with the rest of the installation steps.

Platform / OS

Ubuntu 25.10

Install type

.deb

InkyCap version

26.7.2

Notes, logs, or screenshots

I'm not inclined to try forcing InkyCap to install just yet, nor do I wish to manually rename or delete /usr/bin/tinymist. I do have the previous edition of InkyCap Version 26.6.18 already installed and working.

Thank you this could be a problem that other people, who have installed Tinymist separately, would face. I just added a "beta" release 26.7.3 that is only a .deb package, which hopefully fixes this. 26.7.3 (393c5d8860) renames InkyCap's Tinymist sidecar everywhere it's referenced, so the .deb installs it as /usr/bin/inkycap-tinymist instead of the generic /usr/bin/tinymist, so it shouldn't conflict with what you already have installed and should still work for people that don't have it installed.
