I (Ajinkya) am taking this route all the way to Sicily, with a couple of days each in Paris and Nice.

Interested folks can join up to Paris (afternoon 2026年02月02日, Ouigo Train Classique no. 54) and/or in the night train to Nice (evening 2026年02月04日, Intercités de Nuit 5781, possibly modifiable). I can also share the onward route to Sicily if someone is interested.

This may be an alternative scenic route back for folks from Ljubljana, or anyone interested in adding Nice to their plans.

• Tickets from Nice to Ventimiglia (first Italian station) can be booked through SNCF as well, or consider buses to Milan or Genoa.
• If relevant, purchase tickets involving Italy through trenitalia.it and/or Italo.

An additional disclaimer: I am arranging this trip from out of Europe, so if it does progress we might need a liaison within the region as well. Purchasing tickets can especially difficult with foreign cards and a fluctuating Rupee.

And TBH at this point it is unlikely we will be doing any whole-group/route group-tickets. The 🦛 line is more of an exception, than a rule for now – showing how it can be done if the railway operator is willing and able to help out.

Both train rides mentioned in this issue went uneventfully. One person joined from Brussels to Paris and took a different route afterwards. There were some hiccups in the onward route into Italy, but that could be resolved because Nice has a direct train to Ventimiglia.
