This thought just came to me a few minutes ago and I realized there's that empty space beside the "emergency call" button that as far as I know was unused. If someone has autologin, these buttons should be accessible from a button popup in the Action Center. Maybe there could be a way to swipe from the left to right to get the same username menu and stuff instead as another option.
The empty space underneath the lockscreen pin keyboard should have a button that allows switching users, desktop environments, and power options. #548
Just realized that maybe the bottom-left of the tiles area can have a user image button that has session options like lock, log out, restart, and shutdown, in addition to the usual user profile settings link and maybe a button to open the home folder. This button would be optional so everyone can pick where they want session buttons to live. The idea for this being a user profile and power options, etc. button was inspired by Windows 8.
Switching desktops wouldn't be available unless someone is logged out, and if someone has no password but autologin is off, there should be a button that replaces the lock screen keyboard that says "log in", while if they are logged in, the lockscreen background will be transparent to see tiles and stuff behind it when dragging up.
Edit: I think an option to have the user profile and session management button below the All Apps list search button would be a good place to have it. It should probably disappear when doing a search like the search button is supposed to I think but can't remember. This will be the default placement for the session management button when unlocked, but I can have a choice to show it at the bottom-left of the tiles, as a tile itself perhaps (but that could be confusing with a Me tile), and not shown at all.
I think instead of "select desktop environment", it should be "select environment". "Select user" would be good for user profile selection. These would only be on the not-logged-in version or if someone does "switch user" from the logged in and maybe or maybe not locked versions.
