Maybe this is already somewhat covered with the "Amazon zu Buchladen" recipe? I am not knowledgeable enough about the options to make any recommendations for the recipe. The last few audiobooks I bought were either directly from the author's website or via libro.fm. I don't know much about the latter, but it was nice getting DRM-free files to download. Most of their offers seem to be English, so it isn't necessarily a great place for German audiobooks.

I remember somebody mentioning the library system and them having online offerings. I also think they wanted to write a recipe for that at some point.
