This page has:

Is Codeberg well funded?
Don't worry, the danger of having Codeberg disappear is low!
Codeberg is powered by donations and membership fees of the non-profit association. The non-profit Codeberg e.V. members decide over the budget plans once a year, and they take care to put some funds aside to allow for a certain runway even under exceptional circumstances.
However, if you compare Codeberg to platforms which charge a fee for every user, Codeberg has significantly less funding. We kindly ask you to consider setting up a recurring donation.
We can always make good use of donations. They allow us not only to operate the minimum services, but extend the features, add new services, and generously offer more power e.g. for CI and Code Search.

Where can I find information about Codeberg's financials? How much revenue has it had for the last three years? What have been the expenses?

Thank you.

A full picture of the financials (with a full report, incl. expenses, categories and budget) in the way that you describe are currently only available to Codeberg e.V. members - so, although I know that this is not the answer you are looking for, it is not currently possible to evaluate this information. At least not yet.

I am a volunteer/member and not a member of the Presidium/Executive Board, so all I can say is the following:

  • The allocated budget is voted on yearly by the annually-held general assembly, which also discusses specific expenses individually. There are a lot of eyes on these documents already.
  • I have been made aware of plans to hold a discussion on whether we should make our financials more transparent. It will specifically take place in this year's general assembly - which isn't too far in the future.

On a fully personal capacity, I think that, were this information public, it would be good PR (as in, public-relations-wise). Although I can't have anything to share right now (and although I do understand that you, supposing that you are a 'potential donor' interested to see with what happens with your money and how impactful your donation would be, might want to gain insight into this information so that you can judge for yourself rather than take our word for it), I will have to ask you to wait for a bit.

There's ongoing work in the background, so although I will close this issue for now, consider your consideration considered. Thanks for reaching out. :)
