Background Information on Codeberg e.V. #191

Hello,

first: thanks for the whole initiative. It has been about time for a dev-infrastructure for OSS. Just migrated everything from github.

Could you provide a little more information on the e.V. behind it all in the documentation? For example the "Vereinssatzung".

Sorry, if I missed something, I tried to find more information, but could not. For example I got caught in a link-cycle "starting" https://codeberg.org/Codeberg -> https://codeberg.org/Codeberg-e.V. -> https://codeberg.org/Codeberg while trying to find out more about Codeberg e.V.

Regards,

In the footer of the platform (not the docs), you can find a link to the bylaws / Satzung. But thanks for the hint, we should add some more references and maybe provide a tl;dr what's inside.

I created #212 to add a link to the only mention of the bylaws in the documentation.

I am not sure what you mean by a tl;dr. Basically the article on "What is Codeberg?" already gives a good overview and a has a tl;dr like summary on what is written in the bylaws in the "What is codeberg"-section already.

Is it possible to add a link to https://docs.codeberg.org/getting-started/what-is-codeberg/ to the project description of https://codeberg.org/Codeberg ?
(Who can do that, I don't think that is reachable by any PR-mechanism, is it?)

e.g. Add an additional bullet point to the link named "What is Codeberg" in the "Also check out other official places:" list.

I think that would solve the link-cycle issue.

The space there is limited. It took me about 30 minutes to find a way to compress the information into the sign limit.

@fnetX: Hm, ok that's of course a show stopper for this idea :)

How about a small one file pinned public repository "About Codeberg" in Codeberg e.V. with all the links to the documentation on what codeberg is, the bylaws, etc.?

If you are not member of the Verein you currently don't see anything in the Codeberg e.V. (as expected). But the link in Codeberg suggests that you can find information there (even if you are not a member).

I updated https://codeberg.org/Codeberg-e.V./, what do you think?

  • Bylaw footer has been added
  • More information was added to the Codeberg e.V. organization
  • This issue has gone stale

Feel free to create a new issue if you believe that there's anything else that we should do.

(Thanks @f0sh for the reminder!)
