Make dark background color a tiny bit less intense #82

Hello!

At least one person brought up that the current shade of blue (for the background color) is way too strong (and should be made a bit more gray / less saturated) and I happen to agree with them:

How can we change that?

Where did you take that screenshot from? A little bit of context would help probably.
White on blue goes great on brighter backgrounds:

Not so much on dark surroundings like your screenshot.

Feel free to test out the darker colors from the palette: https://codeberg.org/Codeberg/Design

The theme that was used is codeberg-dark (I assumed you already knew about it, sorry!):

I got here first (instead of going immediately to Codeberg's Forgejo repository because I'm currently struggling to find colors that could work from the palette provided here, and I wouldn't want to come up with something on my own that effectively violates your guidelines without checking in with you first.

Oh!

Ok. I have proposed to change that ages ago, but as I started to drop that ball I now use the forgejo dark skin for that very reason.

I basically closed all issues as even changing colors and changing superficial theme properties seemed to be too complex/too much work/ upstream issues

I'm happy somebody cares now. I generally lost interest in creating issues that remained issues.

Oh, I didn't even notice that someone had noticed already and that you even had a proposal going on. (It's a good idea to keep issues open if they're not resolved - even if they go unaddressed for a long time, it's very easy to lose track otherwise when the demand grows and as things get more (re-)organized!)

The relevant commit that adds the custom themes (as of codeberg-1.19) can be found here: Codeberg/forgejo@00f7439f97

So, as long as a change to the color scheme is proposed, all that's left of me (or someone else) is to replace the hex values, test it and then make a PR. I can go for it if you want me to. If you decide to update the color scheme (or if you just tell me to go for it and point me to the things you'd like to see changed [I think that your screenshot is good enough, but haven't checked thoroughly]), modifying the theme to make it resemble the newest changes is very easy and I'm willing to do that when I find the free time to do so.

As discussing the specifics of a proposal here, which was already made, would not make much sense, I am closing this issue and moving the discussion to #50 for now. 🤞
