Non-local users are not allowed to change their username. #985

Problem
  • Many users register for a Codeberg account using GitHub.
  • Doing so may result in an error message: "Non-local users are not allowed to change their username. Please contact your site administrator for more details."
  • I can confirm one case of this happening with an account registered in January 2023.
  • See: https://github.com/go-gitea/gitea/issues/18308
Consequences

The easiest solution to this is deleting your account and making a new one without logging in using GitHub, which can be extremely annoying and put off new users.

I am not sure if there's anything that Codeberg can do, but thought it'd be best to make an issue here as people see this as a Codeberg problem.
