Codeberg blocked in Saudi Arabia #812

I'm not sure if this is the correct repository.

The Saudi Arabian government filtering service has blocked all Codeberg IPv4 addresses - one of them being 217.197.91.145, which makes Codeberg unaccessible for people living in saudi arabia such as myself. I am only able to access this site through IPv6.

The image attached wih this issue is what will appear when someone tries to visit this site explicitly with the IPv4 address, normal means gets a connection reset; which is normal with blocked sites in Saudi Arabia.

I'm sure that this is short, I have submitted a ticket to filter.sa for an unblock, as this site does not break any rules or regulations; not that i know of. Maybe ridiculing the dictators or breaking certain 'forbidden' things on Codeberg that it embraces?

It has been a week since i submitted a ticket, it is possible for Codeberg as a company, to request an unblock.

I do not know of anyone who uses this site other than me.

Hello, can you link us to further resources on how to request the unblock as an organization?

It's sad to hear this, but without knowing more precisely what leads to these blocks and eventually considering this in our moderation, we cannot do much about this. If requesting unblocks involves more effort, I suppose that we're not really capable of doing this, but let's at least try.

I haven't received a response IIRC. Is this still a problem?

Codeberg is blocked on IPv4, and blocked straight up on certain ISPs, for example I can only access Codeberg in my home.

Yeah, but very popular circumvention methods for that problem do exist. Anyways, not the problem at hand right now.

I don't know if there's much we can do. If the unblock request was unanswered, and there are no resources available to identify the cause of the problem (at least I haven't found any indication), I lack the idea what else we could do (apart from switching IPv4 addresses).

are you unable ot access codeberg with IPv6?

are you unable ot access codeberg with IPv6?

@sewn I do not think that I have IPv6 available, I just have IPv4 addresses, how can I check that on Linux?

Now I am in Dubai (UAE) and codeberg.org is also blocked here - yet another post via Tor.

Please let me know whatever test that I can do or logs that I can provide.

If you managed to unblock Codeberg in Saudi Arabia. It could be the same for Belarus.

We have never received any response after reaching out via online forms. I really suppose that there is very low interest in unblocking, unless there is actually a large amount of people in the country itself affected by the ban and criticizing it.

At the moment, we have no strategies how to deal with this. Submitting the form more often and / or sending more messages is likely pointless.

codeberg.org and codeberg.page has been blocked. Both IPv6 and IPv4 are inaccessible. I guess I have to pack my bags now.

If by figuring out which VPN's are allowed in Brazil, pick and choose a VPN that the Brasilian government allows/legalises. Then through that VPN, access the codeberg.org website no? Just curious, how did you manage to post a comment in this very discussion?

@oVerde do you know of any way to request an unban? Is it banned on a company or state level? Any information is appreciated.

@fnetX, @Debug_Bugs, @sewn, @JonnyTech, @captainepoch

I am happy to inform you that after years of effort and many requests for CodeBurg to be unbanned; they finally listened!

After >3 years this issue can finally be considered closed.
