[feature request] Discussion function, like on GitHub #528

I think it would make custom workflows in applications that are on Codeberg easier if Codeberg had a way to encourage discussions about the project, like GitHub already has.

Especially the function to create issues out of discussions would be very useful in Codeberg.

In addition, it might make sense to move issues into discussions in order to tidy up the issues and to generate really relevant issues as issues from the discussion.

As Codeberg is based on Gitea, you might want to check if the Gitea repo contains such a request and perhaps comment and participate on development there.

i think this is most likely the issue upstream: https://github.com/go-gitea/gitea/issues/14562

@rwa This issue on GitHub addresses another function, this one: https://docs.github.com/en/organizations/collaborating-with-your-team/about-team-discussions
The requested feature is this one: https://docs.github.com/en/discussions and as far as I can see there isn't any issue in Gitea regarding this.

Would you mind opening a feature request upstream?

It seems we lost track on this one.

So here a little bump 🙂

Community discussions would be useful in my opinion. We use community discussions mainly for Q&A. Community members can ask and answer questions, select categories, help each other. All of this would make life easier for maintainers.

As Codeberg runs forgejo, I think the better place to discuss this might be in that project. And there is already a forgejo issue about ways of enabling discussions, see: forgejo/forgejo#410
