I'm honestly kind of shocked to find a site that is beyond the year 2000 that has this problem but apparently we have this problem here when I post a transparent PNG rather than it being transparent in the transparent areas it shows the checkerboard background.

Hi, your corners of the attached PNG are not transparent and this is not Codeberg’s fault. You can see that that the sides are indeed transparent.

I'm sorry, but the image that you've now uploaded is not transparent. The checker boxes are literally in the image data, and not being added by us or the browser.

Is this the original image that you uploaded?

The image is on a transparent background the checkerboard pattern indicates that It's not baked in the image It just indicates transparency. The image has been tested over and over and over again it shows those areas as transparent in the app it shows those as transparent on other pages it shows those as transparent in other image apps. There are three ways that apps generally show transparency that is with the checkerboard pattern pure white or pure black. I haven't seen an issue where it matters but it may be where I need to change that to where it shows black or white for transparency so it's understood better I'm not really sure on that what's going on like I said I haven't seen this problem since Iike 2000 or so I figured it was all gone by now. I'll double check and I'll respond if I find out that that's wrong but as far as I know it's not I used the same one on another page and it rendered properly unless somehow I've accidentally switched out the file but again I'll check if you don't get any response then it's still the same issue. Actually just triple verified it again It's absolutely on a transparent background and it's not being rendered properly on the site. Unfortunately this is probably beyond the site It's probably coming from the base. So maybe in another 26 years huh.

Edit: this was a test in a table header cell, but seems my browser (Firefox) doesn’t show it with orange background
<table> <thead> <th style="background-color:Orange"><img src="https://codeberg.org/attachments/10349e7f-bc6f-4800-b816-132c1d62e5bb"/></th> <th>Edit: this was a test in a table header cell, but seems my browser (Firefox) doesn’t show it with orange background</th> </thead> </table>

But, if you change your theme in the user settings – Appearance to a dark theme, then you see that the borders are indeed dark now, just the small angles are not because they aren’t transparent.

There's some weirdness going on somewhere here I just turned it into an SVG and I get the same thing. But only in here. I verified the image in multiple apps and multiple places to be transparent so it's not making any sense right now. I'll figured out eventually I guess I mean I'm just moving from one site to another I didn't have a bit of problem over there on that other site that I don't even want to talk about anymore.

You can drop a link here from that other site to the PNG file. Really, as far as I remember, Codeberg is not changing attachments and if it does than it might be a bug to be fixed.

Ohh snap! That's exactly what happened I landed up losing that image file because I swapped it out with the wrong one that was broken and then I landed up actually zooming in on it in my app so that's why it works right in the app. DUH!

Sorry for the confusion you can actually delete this whole thing if you would like. Now I'm scrambling trying to find a fix. 🥺

Life would be easier if the gimp worked better on Android.
