In Codeberg's repository overview, however, it is displayed exactly where I would expect and like it to be.

GitLab also chooses to display the project icon on the left side of the project name.

A graphical user interface that displays a language in a right-to-left reading direction would probably require something else.

Unfortunately, that's not the case for me. This is why I opened the issue.
If you look at screenshot 1, you can see that the avatar icon is to the left of the my user name. It is not to the left of my project name/repository name. In this view, it looks as if the avatar icon relates to my user account, but it does not. My user avatar looks different.

I see what you mean now. This is unlikely to get changed. The UI for having a avatar icon in the middle if that owner/repo does not look good in the current layout. Gitlab's UI layout allows this to look good.

Don't both use breadcrumb navigation? Why should it look good on GitLab but not on Codeberg?

Currently, I experience the behaviour in the Codeberg interface as inconsistent, because it is displayed differently in the repository overview.
