Migrating repos from Github to Codeberg causes issues with release files #2061

Closed

Problem:
When migrating a repo from Github to Codeberg (account linked and secret key with appropriate permissions provided), any release file downloads that were also migrated become corrupted (enabled releases after migration) and can't be used (in this case it was .zip and .bat files).

Opening any of these files results in a dialog box complaining about the file type being invalid and when explicitly opening the file in a text editor it reveals a download link to the file that was supposed to be transferred.

Workaround:
Manually deleting migrated release file downloads and reuploading them from a local drive doesn't result in file corruption.

Hi, could you please link what the original Github repository was that you used for this migration?

Certainly!

Here is the original repository on Github which presents the bug in the OP, I was also able to reproduce the bug again by migrating the original repository into a test repository on Codeberg.

I've also included the migrated release files in this reply, as you can see, they only contain the download links to the release files on Github and not the actual contents of the release files themselves.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! I think I found the bug :)

No problem, I'm glad that I was able to bring attention to this matter.
