Hello all,

I have just migrated my app from GitHub to codeberg (https://codeberg.org/Zolko/Assembly4) and I'm very happy about my move. The size of the repo is 40Mb, mostly made of images for documentation purposes. I can easily reduce that.

Is there a limit on the size a project can have on codeberg ? I have heard about a 100Mb limit. I read the online codeberg documentation and didn't find any info about this

I'm also thinking about forking a much bigger open-source project from GitHub to here, and there the size is >3Gb. Is this doable ? Are there requirements, things to consider ?

Thanx

At some point in the future there will be quotas, see https://blog.codeberg.org/new-storage-limits-on-codeberg-what-you-need-to-know.html for details.

In short: the plan is for 750 MB for public repos (plus 1.5 GB in LFS), and private or non promoted repos (eg your dotfiles) shouldn't be >100 MB.

For bigger repos, one can request more space here: https://codeberg.org/Codeberg-e.V./requests

Right now the enforcement of the quotas is not in place yet, see https://blog.codeberg.org/letter-from-codeberg-we-love-our-new-infrastructure.html for Details on that!

Hope that helps!

No problem, feel free to close the issue if that answers all questions so far :)

While I'm at it : my repo uses 30Mb, but most of it is the the .git subdirectory, and contains probably images that have been removed : is it possible to purge or reduce the .git directory's size ? It's wasted space

You can check out #1986 for a recent example re: shrinking repo sizes!
