I have signed up to Codeberg, enabled 2FA and never activated my e-mail addres, so I tried to verify it by sending the verification e-mail, which arrived as expected.

When I clicked on the activation link and put it my password, the page showed and "500 internal server error".

possible causes:

  • extensions cutting off part of the URL(false flagging it as a tracking parameter);
  • mail provider(proton) cutting of part of the URL(also false flagging it as a tracking parameter);
  • maybe I should try to disable 2FA befora verifying my e-mail address?

EDIT: solved by using a lowercase email address! do you know why is this a thing?

Try to retry, if doesn't work, try to disable 2FA, next verifing your e-mail address, then re-enabling 2FA.

Try to create a new account, next migrate all your repositories, then read this. I've tried 6 times to create my codeberg account.

@therealneca7 You have created numerous comments in the issue trackers today, most of which are probably not very helpful. Please consider learning your way in the community first before offering help, and maybe slow down a bit to not overwhelm volunteers. Thank you.

@blissartt could you check if your email is activated? It's possible that it was set to be active and error somewhere afterwards.

I have the same problem.

I have the same problem.

The last method its to create a new account, after 2 hours, look at your inbox, before 3 hours, active your account by clicking the link provided by the noreply@codeberg.org, i recommended to create a ProtonMail alias, so when you have a SimpleLogin email, download your email (if you use ProtonMail), after this, create a filter, that make noreply@codeberg.org to your inbox, and not as a spam, watch this video for the filter guide of SimpleLogin. I've tried 6 times to create my account. Because if you dont activate your account, it will go to the activation page, again.

I know what to do.
Add another email address (all in lowercase), verify it, toggle it as primary and delete the previous one. No error will be seen with a lowercase-only email. Then readd the deleted email address (lowercase ONLY) and things will work out fine.
Problem has been solved. Thanks.
