Most of my repositories won't be visited by anyone and I disable many features on all of them as a way to reduce load on overall Codeberg Infrastructure, But I couldn't disable the RSS Feed Feature on my repositories.

Could This Be Added?

Thanks for This Lovely Service!

I think this is a great idea. While the RSS feeds can be very useful, there are many repos where they just... don't make much sense, and disabling them instance-wide isn't an option (because they're useful for other repos).

I doubt that it saves load on Codeberg, probably on the contrary: Checking this in the template probably slightly increases software complexity on a technical level.

It would only make sense to disable it to get rid of the button visually, but I'm not sure this should be a high priority...

I don't exactly know how codeberg works under the hood even tho it's open-source, obviously engineering is all about tradeoffs, and if it's worth it to be able to disable RSS feeds then I'd love to see it.

I would like this as well.

@kipvandenbos Do you have a different reason than what was already stated?

Yes, I think repo owners should be able to have slightly more granular control over people doing stuff like making rss to social media bridges and that sort of thing. It's fine to leave the default as-is, but people should be able to opt out of exposing a feed to unauthenticated accounts without having to make a repository private, imo.

Yeah, that's a good justification to add such granular control - does the same concern apply to RSS feeds of users and organizations?

I suppose so, though users (and orgs?) already have the ability to hide their public activity to unauthenticated users so I think it's less of a priority. Allowing repo owners to opt out of exposing an RSS feed would be enough on its own I believe.
