We should have an enforced code of conduct for all contributors. Personally, I think that if such a code doesn't cover conduct outside the project, then it's useless.
Code of conduct #9
Yes, 100%, no doubt, and strict enforcement. I'm assuming there's a ton of existing great CoCs to work from? This needs to be arranged ASAP, of course. I've never had to select a CoC for a coding project, so any suggestions are very welcome.
I knocked this together this morning. I welcome feedback.
We as members, contributors, and leaders pledge to make participation in our community a harassment-free experience. We pledge to act in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community, and to defend that community with all available resources and methods.
We pledge that any person or organization will be barred from participation in our community who or which demonstrates any of the following behaviours, in public or private, without exception: Sexual harassment, fascism, white nationalism, naziism, discrimination on grounds of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, socio-economic class, nationality or national origin, race, caste, skin colour, religious perspective, or sexual identity and orientation.
Community leaders take on responsibility for interpreting the above pledges, and applying them fairly and evenly. Leaders will take such actions they deem necessary to enforce this code of conduct on all participants and community members, without exception.
This code of conduct applies to all conduct, public and private, of any and all members of this project and community, without regard to circumstances of specific violations.
Community members are encouraged to notify leaders of code of conduct violations. We pledge that all such reports will be fairly investigated, responses agreed upon, and consequences enforced, without undue delay.
Sounds very, very good to me. I think we can officially adopt this as-is.
