When some 'admin' account has been made and REMOTE-USER is not available, i.e. a different browser environment is used and Apache does not authenticate, it would be nice if one still could login based on auth_plain.

Yes, this could be interesting. But currently, I don't have the time resources to develop such a solution.

Therefore, feel free to provide it or to fork AuthRemoteUser.
