[FR] Relocate Map and Set Location Buttons Lower #15

Hands are usually positioned closer to the lower-middle portion of a vertically-positioned device. Hence, thumbs are closer to the bottom for faster access to buttons towards the lower-middle. This also consumes some of the negative space between the primary weather status and bottom row of current metrics icons for larger screens and creates a more balanced look. May also relieve some of the visual clutter up top for cities and municipalities with long names.

Describe the solution you'd like

Consider relocating map and set location buttons down in between the primary weather status and bottom row of current metrics icons.

Hi Leopold,
Thank you for the suggestion. The accessibility of the functions has also been bothering me since I added the maps and support for more cities.
Unfortunately, I still didn't quite understand your suggestion, what would be your idea for the new place for the buttons?
King regards

Here the icons are simply shifted down and away from the top towards a more accessible location. This also has the effect of:

  • Removing clutter from the top where focus is initially directed towards
  • Allocates additional field space for longer city names

Pencil icon removed. Ideally, only one icon should be used to edit location which helps to reduce icon clutter. This also improves the text justification of the location; it is better centered on the screen (the attached screens have not been edited to reflect the improved justification).

Another approach would be similar, only that the icons are brought further in. This creates more of a trianglular form: Current status at the apex, map and location set icons leading to the metric icons at the triangle base.

Mmh, I think that is also not optimal, but it's definitely more accessible...
The pen is still needed because it opens a different menu than the map/world icon.

Perhaps the pen can be located under the location, centered directly under 'Updated: (time)'. For example, the location 'Glendale, California, US' now has the pen located directly to the right of US. Which looks a bit odd visually. But not a big deal.

Can you take a screenshot and send it to me? I can't imagine how it looks for you right now.
