Done! It'll be in the next release (1.3.1), coming soon. Adds a collapse-all / expand-all button in the Notebooks header (it appears once you have nested notebooks). One click folds the whole tree to top level, click again to expand - and the per-notebook chevrons are still there for individual branches. Folded state is remembered per vault. Thanks for the suggestion, and sorry it took a while!
