unmaximizable windows still show orange glow but fail to maximize

Bug Description
when i drag a window that can't be maximized to the side (such as gcalctool) or top, I see the orange glowing box telling me it's going to maximize, but when I release, it just moves the window to the top left corner. Should not show preview box.
