内容説明
The monograph evaluates the ways in which British urban policy makers are attempting to get involved in the development of advanced telecommunications in their cities. It reports the results of a questionnaire survey of 93 municipal authorities and detailed case studies of Edinburgh, Manchester and Sheffield. The urban policies are seen as a new type of planning oriented towards creating the 'information city', through maximising the growth and in-migration of information-intensive activities - the key determinants of urban economic health in the present 'post-industrial era'.
