内容説明
The introductory reviews and research reports presented in this volume cover the topics of localization and condensation of electrons in semiconductors, the quantum Hall effect, quantum dots and wires, lateral superlattices and ballistic transport. Of particular interest is the discussion of the role of disorder and the metal-insulator transition in the integer quantum Hall effect and of the role of quasiparticles and spin-reversal in the fractional quantum Hall effect. Experimental techniques are described for producing laterally structured two-dimensional electron gas systems and for studying their electrical and optical properties. Current device developments and the future impact of confined electron systems on device physics are discussed.
