[Adding Jack Jansen to the nosy list, since he added the LDFLAGS parts
for Mac OS X]
Jack, could you please comment on why the LDFLAGS are added to LDSHARED
by configure, rather than using LDFLAGS as extra argument to LDSHARED ?
