It's difficult to really test such errors. Moreover, on the top of the bdist_wininst files, a comment says loudly: IF CHANGES TO THIS FILE ARE CHECKED INTO PYTHON CVS, THE RECOMPILED BINARIES MUST BE CHECKED IN AS WELL!
