What's your use case to use env vars rather than the current LC_CTYPE locale? My concern is that when setlocale() is called, the current LC_CTYPE locale is inconsistent and you can get mojibake and others issues. What's your use case to use env vars rather than the current LC_CTYPE locale?
My concern is that when setlocale() is called, the current LC_CTYPE locale is inconsistent and you can get mojibake and others issues.
