The plot thickens. By searching my extensive GMail archives for Jeethu Rao I found an email from Sept. 14 to python-dev by Larry Hastings titled "Store startup modules as C structures for 20%+ startup speed improvement?" It references an issue and a PR: https://bugs.python.org/issue34690 https://github.com/python/cpython/pull/9320 Here's a link to the python-dev thread: https://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-dev/2018-September/155188.html There's a lot of discussion there. I'll try to dig through it.
