Okay, I guess the fdtype() API could be useful if we don’t alter fromfd(), i.e. as a workaround for Issue 18391. IMO the specific SO_* constants should at least be listed in the documentation, so users know which versions of Python have which constants. Although exposing them is not necessary for the fromfd() implementation. See also more comments on the code review.
