The next question is whether we care about that 1 ULP in the context of the random number calculations which already involve multi-step chains that aren't favorable to retaining precision:
s + (1.0 + s * s) ** 0.5
ainv = (2.0 * alpha - 1.0) ** 0.5

ccc = alpha + ainv
