Not going to happen. The desktop is for users, not installers, and apps installing shortcuts all over it is one of the reasons we got the Start Screen in Windows 8 (where only users can add items - no way for installers to do it).
Besides, such an option would be off by default, which means you're probably looking at more than three clicks to enable it in the installer. Users can easily pin it to the taskbar or copy the shortcut to the desktop, and admins can push out a shortcut to all users on their network if they like. Either option is better than the installer doing it. |
