Hi, I'd like to take this over after Dave Malcolm. I don't see any issues that haven't been resolved, so my question is: What else can I do to make this patch acceptable? I'm attaching a rebased version of this patch that applies to current default branch (FWIW, we use this patch downstream in Fedora in our python3-debug build and it works well)
