From my viewpoint the only long term option is to bring repeat (and other functions that you may have found exhibiting this behaviour during the AC process) into line with other Python functions. If that means a deprecation period and not being able to use AC in the short term so be it, or have I again misunderstood the technical aspects that you've already discussed, in which case you can all give me a good kicking? :)
