I think, this issue should have been closed. Or at least be closed now. 1. urlretrieve - change was done. 2. Re: msg172874 - DeprecationWarnings on URLopener have been in place since 3.3. Also in the documentation in the Legacy Interface section, it is mentioned that "They might become deprecated at some point in the future." - Adding an Explicit deprecation in 3.3 is okay. It can even be done now. 3. All other old primitives have been deprecated/documented to be removed.
