Sorry, there is no traceback. The issue was identified in code review. 'man 2 read' states: === The system guaran- tees to read the number of bytes requested if the descriptor references a normal file that has that many bytes left before the end-of-file, but in no other case. === Since a pipe is not a "normal file", the guarantee to "read the number of bytes requested" does not apply.
