The argparse example (http://docs.python.org/dev/library/argparse.html#example) introduces way too many concepts too early. It's written as if targeted to existing users of optparse, instead of newcomers to Python's CLI handling. Perhaps the example could be more gentle, or if there is insistence on showing off, maybe the page could be kept as-is, but with a link to some tutorial (as is done with logging: http://docs.python.org/dev/library/logging.html). |
