IDLE does have a color scheme configuration for "found" as listed in the highlighting config dialog and internally as the Tkinter Text tag "hit". This looks like the stubs for functionality that never got implemented. Take a look at the SearchBar IDLE extension. It provides incremental searching which highlights all matches.
