I don't expect that OpenBSD will require definition of _XOPEN_SOURCE, either, but I do hope that they provide a mechanism to request extensions some day. So this change will need to be re-evaluated for each OpenBSD release. I hope that Python can remove all these system-specific changes, over time. This can't happen until we stop support OpenBSD 3.2, but we do need to record what versions of OpenBSD are affected, and we do need actual proof that they are affected, and that no alternative solution is available.
