Hi,
this is written from the Quantal live-CD downloaded 20120825,
where the touchpad is still not recognized:

Hi,
I am getting the same result in the precise release with
the upstream kernel
linux-
linux-
linux-
linux-
which results in only a generic mouse being detected:
I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0001 Version=0000
N: Name="PS/2 Generic Mouse"
P: Phys=isa0060/
S: Sysfs=/
U: Uniq=

B: REL=3
Anything else I can try ?
Yours,
Steffen
https:/
add kernel options:
i8042.reset i8042.nomux=1
doesn't help, still no trackpad shown.
Booting into Windows7, device manager says it is an ALPS
pointing device, with HardwareID PNP0F13 using Service i8042prt
Does that help ?
I just checked, OpenSUSE 12.1 i686 LiveCD does not detect the touchpad
Also, the current Fedora 18 / rawhide does not detect the touchpad.
Hi again,
this seems to be a duplicate of several other bugs, where ALPS touchpads
are not detected.
I was unable to find psmouse-alps-dkms,
which was mentioned in https:/
Steffen
The driver mentioned in
https:/
also seems to not detect the touchpad
Steffen
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
I've found it mentioned in https:/
I've attempted the driver mentioned in https:/
To the people affected by this bug, I'd recommend trying the driver made by Dave Turvene mentionned here :
https:/
driver is at http://
unpack the driver to /usr/src/
then :
sudo dkms build psmouse/
sudo dkms install psmouse/
sudo rmmod psmouse && sudo modprobe -v psmouse
Yep, that's a fix. xinput --list:
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Logitech USB Optical Mouse id=11 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ PS/2 Mouse id=14 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint id=15 [slave pointer (2)]
I have a Lifebook AH532 here as well, I use 12.04.1 with no 3rd party repos/ppa whatever.
xinput --list
shows:
PS/2 Generic Mouse
and the trackpad works just fine, even though it is not recognized in the way described above.
could you explain what the problems/symptoms are with the default setup?
Your touchpad has fallen back into a compatibility mode as it hasn't been recognised by the kernel. As such, none of the fancy things you can do with it (two-finger scroll, two-finger right-click, disable on typing etc) are disabled.
Hi,
Yes, touchpad has basic mouse functionality,
But scroll area to the right and multi
Touch would work with a proper driver.

hello averyone,
can i solve this problem on win7?

thanks
Thanks to Vince, #14 resolved my problems. Dave Turvene's driver works flawlessly.
My touchpad now works as it should...
Steffen Neumann, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-
apport-collect -p xserver-
Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.
Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for your understanding.
Had same problem on Lifebook A512 - Ubuntu 13.10 64bit and 14.04 Live version.
The touchpad's scroll and mid-click (Left+Right button) were not working.
I tried the commands suggested on #14 and this similar workaround http://
Sorry, can't tell which one of the two methods worked, I'm totally "noob" with regard to kernel modules (made a lot of confiuson and receivde e few error messages)... anyway after a reboot I can tell that the touchpad is now working!
This means that there must be something good into the psmouse-alps-1.3 driver (http://
If there is any way to help to get more informations (run commands, post file settings...) just let me know.
Jeremie Tamburini, thank you for your comment. So your hardware and problem may be tracked, could you please file a new report by executing the following in a terminal:

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information.

@Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch)
Here we are: https:/
Hope it's OK.
Now I can describe the workaround, which might be helpful for other users:
1- Downloaded drivers here http://
2- Moved the folder "psmouse-alps-1.3" into "/usr/src/"
3- cd /usr/src
4- sudo dkms build psmouse/alps-1.3
5- sudo dkms install psmouse/alps-1.3
6- sudo rmmod psmouse && sudo modprobe -v psmouse
Thank you, Jeremie Tamburini - thank you really ever so much!!! Finally
fixed! I write for a living, and having a practically uncontrolled cursor
has been a terrible ordeal. Now my Fujitsu is perfect.
I had seen numerous references to the alps-1.3, but was unable to install
it. Your simple and accurate 6-step guide was crystal clear and made all
the difference!
Thank you again.

Just to let you know that the touchpad is now working properly on Lifebook A512 with Ubuntu 14.04 and linux 3.13.0-20-generic.
I hope it will be the same on Lifebook AH532.
Sorry that I have not seen your message before. I am traveling and will do
as you say when I get back to my "natural surroundings".
