Consultation Request Processing Fee

Effective August 4, 2025, our processing fee will be 500ドル and we will no longer accept payment via check or money order; all payments must be made with a credit card.

Please be advised that we will not begin to process your submission until we have received the fee payment.

How to Submit a Request

Effective August 4, 2025, please email a single, combined PDF of the required documents listed above to immigration@amptp.org, as we will no longer accept hard copy submissions.

Processing Times and Submission Limits

Please be advised that we will not begin to process your submission until we have received the fee payment. Be further advised that any missing, incomplete or unclear submission materials will significantly delay letter processing.

Our current processing time for O-1 visa letters (as well as letters containing a single O-2 beneficiary) is approximately 10 business days from the date we receive payment of the processing fee.

Processing time for visa letters containing multiple O-2s is approximately 14 business days. We do not accept requests for letters containing more than 30 O-2 visa beneficiaries.

At this time, we do not offer expedited processing. We kindly ask that you do not email us to inquire about the status of your request until 10 business days (14 business days for O-2s) after you have paid the processing fee.

Suggestions for Timely Processing

  • Follow the AMPTP Guidelines (linked above) closely.
  • Do not list more than one production on a single AMPTP Advisory Letter Request Form.
  • Spell the beneficiary’s name correctly throughout the submission materials, and particularly on Form I-129 as this is the name spelling that will be used in the advisory opinion letter.
  • For faster processing of electronic submissions, we suggest providing a PDF with OCR (Optical Character Recognition), which will convert the text into a machine-readable form.
  • Organize your packet (e.g., insert tabs or cover pages to mark the beginning of each required document).
  • Highlight pertinent background information (e.g., the name of the beneficiary in news articles).
  • If available, include a previously issued AMPTP or guild/union advisory opinion and the corresponding Form I-797 Notice of Action.

Do NOT Send

The AMPTP is not the appropriate management organization to provide a consultation letter for fields/roles outside of the motion picture and television industry. While the AMPTP can issue a letter to that effect, please consider whether such a letter is necessary or beneficial to an O-1 or O-2 petition before submitting a visa advisory letter request to the AMPTP. If we receive a submission regarding a beneficiary that we are not the appropriate management organization to provide a letter for, please be advised that we will not refund the processing fee.

The fields/roles that the AMPTP is not the appropriate management organization to issue a letter for include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Archives
  • Audiobooks
  • Augmented/virtual/immersive reality
  • Computer programmers/pipeline engineers/software engineers
  • Executives not working directly on production
  • Instructors/professors
  • Live events (e.g., conferences, conventions, festivals)
  • Live streaming (e.g., Twitch, YouTube)
  • Live theater
  • Music industry (i.e., albums, concerts not filmed for broadcast, etc.)
  • Personal managers or agents
  • Persons in a personal capacity (e.g., assistants, chefs, security, trainers, etc., though the following are exceptions: hair stylists, makeup artists, and wardrobe stylists)
  • Phone or tablet applications ("apps")
  • Podcasts
  • Print or runway models
  • Radio
  • Scientists
  • Security personnel
  • Social media (i.e., YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, Snapchat, TikTok, etc.)
  • Static web content
  • Video games
  • Workshops (live/in-person)

If your field/role is not listed above and you are unsure whether the AMPTP is the appropriate management organization to issue a consultation letter, please email us at immigration@amptp.org
