GNUtrition
GNUtrition is free nutrition analysis software. The USDA Food and Nutrient Database for Dietary Studies (FNDDS) is used as the source of food nutrient information.
Downloading GNUtrition
GNUtrition can be found on the main GNU FTP server (HTTP & HTTPS) and its mirrors; please use a mirror if possible.
Releases are signed using GnuPG. 0.33 and newer are signed with GPG key F06A8079 (fingerprint: 40DA 3AF2 9727 8DA2 B8E1 8D2F FCF0 B5DC F06A 8079). 0.32 and older were signed with GPG key 47486962 (fingerprint: 172F BCE9 8FCA C676 341B 75F7 6FCB 32C9 4748 6962).
To verify a release
download the detached GPG signature file, such as ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gnutrition/gnutrition-latest.tar.gz.sig
(HTTP
& HTTPS).
You may also use
a mirror (HTTPS)
for this as well. Once both files are downloaded
you can check the signature with gpg --verify
gnutrition-[version].tar.gz.sig.
Trying the latest test release (when available) is always appreciated. Test releases of GNUtrition can be found on the GNU Alpha FTP server (HTTP & HTTPS).
Documentation
Documentation for GNUtrition is available online, as is documentation for most GNU software.
Mailing Lists
GNUtrition now has three public mailing lists: <help-gnutrition@gnu.org>, <info-gnutrition@gnu.org>, and <bug-gnutrition@gnu.org>.
The main discussion list is <help-gnutrition@gnu.org>, and is used to discuss all aspects of GNUtrition, including development and porting.
Announcements about GNUtrition are made on <info-gnutrition@gnu.org>.
There is also a special list used for reporting bugs, <bug-gnutrition@gnu.org>.
To subscribe to any GNUtrition mailing list, please send an empty mail with a Subject: header line of just "subscribe" to the relevant -request list. For example, to subscribe yourself to the main list, you would send mail to <help-gnutrition-request@gnu.org> with no body and a Subject: header line of just "subscribe".
Security reports that should not be made immediately public can be sent directly to the maintainer. If there is no response to an urgent issue, you can escalate to the general <security@gnu.org> mailing list for advice.
When replying to an e-mail in the mailing lists, please include the list as a recipient to your reply, so that discussions do not contain holes of missing information.
Request an Enhancement
If you would like any new feature to be included in future versions of GNUtrition, please send a request to <help-gnutrition@gnu.org>.
Please remember that development of GNUtrition is a volunteer effort, and you can also contribute to its development. For information about contributing to the GNU Project, please read How to help GNU.
