2.1 The Menu bar

Located at the top of the window. Contains the menus: File, Edit, Options, and Help. The details of these menus can be found under See Working around with menus.

2.2 Status bar

At the bottom is the status bar. It shows the current state of the file, which can be:

• New: After opening a fresh mino window or selecting New from the File Menu
• Opened: When an existing file is opened
• Saved: After saving the edited file
• Modified: When any editing has been done but not yet been saved
• Idle: Nothing has happened yet!

The right side of the status bar shows the current position in file in terms of the line and column.
There are indicators which can appear in the status bar:

• CAPS: When Capslock is On (in version 2.0, CAPS is not captured and this indicator does not show)
• INS: When inserting mode is on (pressing INSERT)
• SEL: When selecting mode is on (pressing SHIFT or CTRL+E)

2.3 Editing area

Most of the main window will be occupied by the editing field containing the lines of the open file. Most of your editing work will be done in this area.
