Administrative issue One of your members is starting a new project, called PXscan, PXview or PXTool Linux. This contains unauthorised usage of Plextor-owned intellectual property and should be refused. If accepted, we will take legal steps.
Dear Sir, PxScan is a project to offer Plextor customers the possibility to use the advanced features of their DVD writer (such as Media quality check) under other OSes, especially Linux. Please note that Plextor provides only their tools for the Windows OS series. Plextor has already a great reputation as a great quality drive maker and would reinforce this reputation towards the non-Windows users. Note that Plextor itself already promotes Linux software on his website: [http://www.plextor.be/technicalservices/technology/linux.asp?choi(...)](http://www.plextor.be/technicalservices/technology/linux.asp?choi) ce=Linux%20support such as a speed change and several writing programs. There are also programs for other OSes, such as OS/2, Amiga and MacOS (MacPlexTools). In no case we use intellectual property from Plextor. We just send SCSI commands to the drive, and display the retrieved data. These commands and these data are not crypted, and the drives respect the mmc3 standard of SCSI burners for all other functions. Also, the special functions of the drives, such as PoweRec, VariRec, GigaRec are already implemented in other free softwares, such as cdrecord, which is recommended on the Plextor website. Note also that I am located in Europe, and there all kind of engineering to promote interoperability is perfectly legal. We would like to know who our interlocutor is, and possibly get some contacts with Plextor Europe technical and legal team and hope to achieve a kind agreement with them. Best regards.
Voila.
