J'ai demende a XGI si elle comptait supporter notre OS (si poss ible avec des drivers libres). La reponse fut plus qu'encouragente. Voici le message que j'ai envoye a XGI _I've heard about your new Volari GPU s and they seem to be quite impressive. As a Linux user, I have two questions to ask: 1) do you plane to release any Linux drivers? If yes, will they be released under a free licence (like the GPL)? 2) if you don't develop your own drivers, do you plane to give GPU specifications to help Linux developers in creating drivers? Having drivers under a free licence (like the GPL) and good 3d perfomances can make Volari THE video card for Linux users. Those who use video card based on closed source drivers will switch immediatly to Volari if so (even if perfomances are a bit lower that t hose of ATI/nVidia). Moreover the Linux community can help to improve open source drivers. I hope you will choose to support Linux. Best Regards Nicolas _ Voici la reponse que j'ai recu de la part de XGI: _Answer to your questions as follows: 1) do you plane to release any Linux drivers? If yes, will they be released under a free licence (like the GPL)? Linux driver is sometimes OS dependant...As you might know that there is unlimited number of Linux OS and We do have plan to release the driver in the future. 2) if you don't develop your own drivers, do you plane to give GPU specifications to help Linux developers in creating drivers? XGI do development our own driver. That might be an idea. If you think this is a good approach, you are welcome to e-mail: developer@xgitech.com for future assistance!~ CP_ Pour completer ces informations, j'ai recu ce mail aujourd'hui (qui repond a mon mail demandant l'autorisation de poster ces informations): _ Hi Nicolas, Sorry for this late reply as we have been so busy in the pass two weeks. You are welcome to post these Q&As but pls note that our future plan for Linux will only for some Linux OS version only and is not for all. Best Regards, CP Editor Contact _ Comme tout linuxien ayant besoin d'une carte 3d performante et souhaitant une alternative libre au couple nVidia/ATI, cette reponse m'a fait plaisir.
