Une première TODO list est paru sur cette page : [http://xwin.org/article.php?story=20030728143320793#comments(...)](http://xwin.org/article.php?story=20030728143320793#comments) Authored by: Anonymous on Thursday, August 07 2003 @ 03:16 AM PDT The 'featureset' will be the same as XFree86 when we launch. Then we will be coding to improve it. Hopefully we can also encourage programmers from the community who want to get involved in XFree/Xouvert development to learn the basics. The idea is to provide a bed for experimental features to be tested in an X server. Some of the things I myself have been thinking about: -- Option to enable backingstore on *all* windows -- Instead of allocating MAXCLIENTS client structures, we could slim down the server memory footprint a bit by dynamically allocating the structures instead. -- Change the FatalError() messages to be more helpful and friendly. -- Incorporate some of the ideas on xwin involving first-time X configuration, starting Xnest if an X server is already running etc. Whoever came up with those ideas, great thinking (Can't get back to the comments screen while typing :(...) -- Design, experiment with, analyze the need for (if any), an extension for simple double buffering based on backingstore (apps just draw to the window, call something like XDBSwitchBuffers etc, something simpler than the current DBE) I'm also interested in using the OpenGL and hardware-accleration systems available in some drivers and devices as an optional rendering target, perhaps as a test bed for implementing extensions for features it offers, like translucency, 3D integration, etc. Hopefully then we can optimize and extend XFree's Mi and FB layers to provide those features in software. Don't tell me software isn't fast enough... Windows does it quite fast and smooth (albeit it's not used widely in Windows). I think one of the important things to do in Xouvert is establish a project TODO by gathering all the ideas suggested on xwin.org. W&S...
