Well House Consultants offer training courses in a variety of Open Source programming languages. Public courses will be run at our headquarters in Melksham, Wiltshire. Courses tailored to suit individual client needs can be run at your site. Typically we have good availability if you book three months in advance; occasionally we have short notice availability too, so please do ask!
Courses are all written by ourselves, and lead by our own tutor. We recommend that you limit courses to fifteen delegates so that the tutor has plenty of time to answer any questions that arise, and provide personal support during practical sessions.
Apache httpd serves the majority of domains
registered in the world - it's ubiquitous. A fabulous range of
facilities and modules provide a huge tailoring scope and
occasionally a configuration nightmare.
Apache Tomcat is also a web server. Although you find it fronting
only a tiny proportion of registered domains, it's often present in
the background, hidden behind Apache httpd running on the same server.
If you hear "Web" and "Java" , you'll likely find a Tomcat around!
Why two web servers, both from Apache? Httpd is a great web server for
handling single pages, and for traditional sites which hava a large number
of different pages to be served. By contrast, Tomcat is an application
container in which a handful of applications are run and each subsequent
requests back to the server results in the same application taking the
process a stage further on.

which will be the one for you if you are using BOTH servers. (Occasionally,
delegates use Tomcat without any requirement for httpd - please check with
us if you are in this situation)

Linux Web Server
course that covers the installation and maintainace of Apache httpd on
Linux systems, and further Linux courses (below) if you wish to learn
about the operating system too.

Linux Basics - a one-day
introduction for newcomers to Linux, suffient for users who will be
looking after a simple website on a server they do not administer.

Linux Administration - a
one-day introduction which follow on from the Linux Basics day.
